The difference between plastic
and metal is that while the former is cheap, the latter is very expensive. Even
though there are various metallic products of different shapes & sizes,
they cannot replace plastics. Metals are very expensive and it is not feasible
if one begins to use metallic products for all day-to-day activities. For
instance, it is not easy to replace plastic PET bottles with metallic ones,
since the latter cannot be repurchased on myriad occasions. Bottle
mold technology has ensured that high quality PET bottles and other
plastic products can be manufactured at a very cheap cost. Cheapness of cost
ensures that the consumers can buy them at low prices. That is why these
products have found widespread use in our daily lives.
We are encircled by closure molds
items. We use them at home and at offices and even in shops and hospitals. Take
for instance, the computer you are using now. Its keyboard contains keys which
are churned using this technology. Or consider the containers which you carry
every day to your office for your lunch. The exact shape of such containers has
been rendered possible because of these techniques. In the absence of these
techniques, it is impossible to lead the kind of comfortable life we are
leading now.
So, how does this technology
work? Without going into too many jargons, one can say that the process pretty
much comprises of three steps. The first step is to melt the plastics. Plastics
are solid in general but at elevated temperatures, they can be liquefied. The
second step is to insert the liquefied or molten plastic into a mold. Now, here
one must say that the mold is like a vessel of a specific shape. The aim to
make the plastic acquire the shape of the mold! So, a bottle mold is used when
the objective is to manufacture PET bottles.
The third step involves the
reshaping of the molten plastic followed by cooling. Once the molten material
is inserted into the closure molds, it will automatically take the shape of its
container. Thereafter, the temperature is reduced drastically and the entire
thing is cooled or frozen. After the freezing process is over, the final
product can be safely taken out. This is the basic synopsis of how the
technique works. Of course, there are other technicalities involved but they
are beyond the comprehension of a layman. This primarily is a first-hand
account of how the manufacturers produce mold products.
This process of bottle mold can
be carried out with expedience and economy. That is to say, the producers make
sure that less time is spent for the process and even the cost incurred is
significantly lower. With the evolution of technology, it has now become
possible to bring down the cost and the time invested in the manufacturing of
plastics.
Closure molds have also helped in
development of custom-made items. So, if a particular firm requires products in
a unique way, it can always make the mold in that shape. The process also
ensures uniformity of all items.
